iPhone mobilinc app suddenly not working

Hello

Back in the fall 2010 I setup my Uncle's house with an Insteon devices (15-20 lights)& the 2412N and everything has been working as design since.

All of sudden not able to control anything via the iPhone Mobilinc App, keep getting Device Error Could not communicate to:1000 Please remove this device or identify the communication problem.

All lights are working to timers that have been set-up the RemoteLinc - INSTEON Wireless Remote is able to control all lights.

Not sure how just out of the blue it just stopped working.

Any help would be great.

Hi mDx,

Did this occur after upgrading to iOS5?

We released to Apple another update to address latent iOS5 bugs found today and to address a recent internal change to the smartlinc.smarthome.com website that prevented MobiLinc from auto-finding the SmartLinc while on your local network. We hope Apple approves the update this week to get into your hands as soon as possible.

Please give the update a try once released and see if that fixes the issue.

The workaround is to set the Connect Method to Internal instead of Auto while on your local Wi-Fi.

Hello Wes,

On Thursday 11/10/2011 I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 on Friday is when I noticed not able to control via iPhone. I have reinstalled the app and unplugged the controller several times. All lights are working and the house remote is working as well.

I'll be waiting for the update.

Hi Matt,

Can you clarify two points:

1. On Thursday last week were you running iOS 5.0 or 4.x?
2. Can you try to set the Connect Method to Internal under My Devices->Lighting Controller and attempt to sync with your SmartLinc?

I'm assuming that you've verified that the IP address/port settings haven't changed between your SmartLinc and MobiLinc.

Hello Wes.

1. Last week I was running iOS 5.0 and upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 prior to that everything was perfect.

2. I will try and get you an update as soon as I talk with my Uncle, his house is 30 min from me.

3. I've have NOT verified that the IP address/port settings haven't changed between your SmartLinc and MobiLinc. Kinda not sure how they could have changed?

I will be stopping at his house later this week to iron it all out.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the update. The IP address could have changed if the SmartLinc/router went through a reboot cycle. Unless if the IP is fixed, this is dynamically assigned to the SmartLinc when it boots up.

Please do let me know what you find.

I have a simliar problem although I am using the 2412 to control X10 controllers. I have never had a problem until the most recent iOS update when it stopped. I downloaded the mobilinc update today and see some improvement but I am still not able to control my X10 modules.

Mobilinc did find my 2412n at startup and had no problem syncing with it Previous to the update it would not find the 2412n on my network. I have run through all the available troubleshooting guides and nothing seems to work including resetting the 2412n and starting over.

Any suggestions?

Hi there,

Can you try creating a scene in your SmartLinc and resync MobiLinc to your SmartLinc to see if that helps? I've had one other report that creating a scene fixes this issue. Would you let me know if that works for you?

Just to confirm your setup and the problem here's how I understand it, please confirm:

Under My Scenes you have one folder and under that folder you have one scene.
Under My Devices you only have X10 devices.
You do not have a thermostat.
When you go to the details page of an X10 controller and tap ON or OFF you do NOT see the top left network spinning indicator issuing your X10 command.

Can you verify if the SmartLinc Blue LED blinks when you issue the X10 command from MobiLinc?

Is that all correct?
