Changing profile on iPhone version

The only way I can figure out how to change to a different profile on the iPhone is to pull up the settings page and change it there. On the iPad I can change the directly from any page. Is there some way to change profile without going to settings?

Not on the iPhone. Due to the limited space we choose to leave this option under My Settings. You can use the slider pull-up from the bottom to quickly get to My Settings and set the profile from there.

Would be nice to be Able to pull up a change profile menu with fewer strokes - maybe a double tap on the background?

We will have to think about this. We strive to maintain simplicity and attempt to find solutions that don't get in the way of the user.
Since the number of "My" pages and devices, scenes, programs are variable, you won't necessarily have the background exposed to perform a double-tap interaction on all pages.
