Hi Brian,

This all sounds correct. Any "slowness" you see with HTTPS connections is 100% due to the added time it takes the client to negotiate the SSL handshake with the ISY. Both the ISY and the client go through complex crypto functions to establish a connection (most of which is out of our control as it happens in the OS layer). The ISY's security settings can very the time on this negotiation.

Keep in mind that using the ISY's web interface will not open a real-time channel to the ISY and instead uses the ISY's built in web server. MobiLinc and the Admin Console open a real-time status channel to the ISY. This is negotiated and secured if using SSL (which adds time).

Can you be more specific on the slowness you are seeing? Meaning, is your command delayed in the beginning but future commands are quicker, say, after 60 seconds?

Have you ever created a custom SSL Cert for the ISY? Or just used the default security settings?
Low using SSL 3.0 should be about the fastest you can make the ISY/client negotiate a secure connection.

Have you tried our MobiLinc Connect service? It's going to be more secure than using a port forwarded solution for access to your ISY since port forwarding is not required. Keep in mind that SSL doesn't actually protect your ISY. All it does is protect the data stream, but anyone can still connect to your ISY since it's exposed via a port forward rule in your router.
