Tasker Integration Announcement!

Hi Android users,

We've started work on integrating MobiLinc with Tasker and we want to hear from you!

Tasker allows Android users to integrate and make tasks from previously unrelated information items. For example, change phone settings depending on time of day or location. Tasker has a plug-in feature to allow 3rd parties to plug into the Tasker "task" options. Here where you come in.

We'd like to hear from our MobiLinc and Tasker users about how they want to use Tasker and MobiLinc together. An example is turning off all the lights in your house when you leave for the day based on your phone's location.

What are your ideas? Share in the forum by creating a new topic. We want to hear from you!

Here's a link to the Tasker App for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en

Well I think you've covered the most obvious and likely most useful scenario for Tasker integration. I use tasker a ton and I could easily set things up such that when I reach a certain distance from the house the thermostat does something or the lights do something.

One nice thing about Tasker (and Zoom, an app by the same developer) is the ability to make custom "scenes", not in the Insteon sense, more like apps/menus, in addition to custom widgets. I can imagine all sorts of awesome looking control panels that could be made on tablets and phones with a MobiLinc plugin. I'll be honest with you, the current widget support of the Mobilinc app is pretty poor and I wish there was more customization of the layout and sorting within the app as well. With an extensive Tasker plugin that would at least provide an infinitely customizable way to interact without Mobilinc having to develop their own from the ground up.

The success of this plugin will definitely be dependent on how much control/access it allows from Tasker. If it's simply turning devices on/off then I wouldn't expect much enthusiasm for it. If it allows all the same controls as the Mobilinc in-app details screen then we're talking some real potential.

I can't recall if plugins can be used to pass strings back to Tasker for use in variables, pretty sure it can, but that would be huge.

PS: and I'm willing to beta test. ;)

Super excited about this. I love using Tasker for automating my repetitive tasks. Tying in Mobilinc would be huge! I'd be able to get all my lights to turn off when my phone leaves home.

Thanks!

I just discovered Tasker and love it. Any more word on the tasker intergration. Just starting to get into using voice cammands with AVX. Starting to see videos on the internet where lights are being controled with voice commands through the phone. This kind of control would be the pinnacle for me.

Just like pmadden, I'm curious if we could get an update on the Tasker integration? A hint? Beta? Something...

It's been a LONG time since we had an Android update that added any features... :D

We've got it fully working with Tasker. Just working on squashing the few open issues left before we release into the wild.
