Rookie: 2412N vs ISY994i

Hi Wes,

First of all, thank you for the great advise to switch to ISY and let me explain "why" reasons.

1. I've received my first ISY-994i/PLM combo on Friday night 9/14/2012 (ordered 9/11/2012)
OUTSTANDING fast!!! Cudozzzz!
(FYI: ordered some other items you don't have listed from the smarthome.com at the same time, ETA is 9/18/2012 )

2. WOW: ISY works excellent plugged in ANY power outlet in my home so far. As you could remember, I was concerned about finding a "clean" power outlet for 2412N, but this is not an issue with ISY - it just works.

3. Mobilinc response times went down to none-1.5 seconds after switching to ISY, thermo readings become available and correct almost instantly. No delays, including complex scenes statuses.

4. ISY's programs looked weird at first glance (reading UD forum posts), but then I realized I should read "a program" as "a thread" with global scope ... Wow, now it's easy Wrote about 15 "threads" to control bedroom and kitchen lights with motion detectors, overridden by KPL buttons "clicks" and some other events Sure, they are not perfect right now, but work as I want for now

Again, thank you for your advice to switch to ISY - yes, it does cost much more that 2412N, but now I do realize how different and advanced it is.

I'm sorry, I forgot to ask one thing: ISY/PLM combo I purchased contains the PLM which doesn't "feed" power to ISY (have to use included external power supply) - is it possible to exchange this PLM (I believe it's 2413S) with another one which would power ISY via Ethernet? If so, please let me know hoe much this "upgrade" will cost.

Hi Sergey,

Great! So very glad you are enjoying the ISY! We've never had a converted customer that was disappointed with the conversion from SmartLinc to ISY.

As far as your question goes, SmartHome no longer makes this kind of PLM. They transitioned their PLM line to dual-band which is really great, but they dropped the power over serial feature that could be used to power the ISY.
