Notification settings question

Postby miataguy » Thu Sep 26, 2013 9:04 am

Under Notification settings, there are 3 categories:

  • Local Push Settings
  • Device Notifications
  • Other Notifications

What is the difference between them? What does it mean if you click on of the items under "Other" and then select "Add to this device"?

Hi miataguy,

Thanks for the question. Here's the breakdown:

Local Push Settings - These are general settings regarding push. You can set quiet time or disable/enable push all-together.

Device Notifications - These are the push notifications that are assigned to your iOS device.

Other Notifications - These are the push notifications that are assigned to other iOS devices on your MobiLinc Connect account. You can add these other notifications to your device or remove them completely if they aren't needed (for example you replaced a device with a new device).

Just installed MobiLinc Connect
I can see the new variable in my ISY
I can see the state change in ISY when processing from my iPad set init or set value
When I configure notification for either 0 or 1 Mobilinc hangs with a screen please wait updating notifications

Hi NNilsen,

Just to clarify, after installing the MobiLinc Connect portal in the ISY, did you walk through the MobiLinc setup process to create a new MobiLinc Connect account and get your MobiLinc connected through our servers and down to your ISY?

If not, please go to My Settings->Lighting Controller->Host Type and select MobiLinc Connect.
Select "Create a new Account" and follow the directions.

Once MobiLinc is setup to use MobiLinc Connect, please try setting up your notifications again.

Just for those following along, here was the list of suggestions to try that ended up resolving NNilsen's PUSH issue:

Open the Settings app on the iOS device and go to Notification Center. Scroll down to find MobiLinc and make the selections necessary to enable banner notifications.

If they match, or if you’ve made changes, please reboot your iPad.
Once the iPad comes back up, please verify you have internet access by browsing to your favorite websites.
Open MobiLinc and go to My Settings->Lighting Controller and tap the Sync Button.
Select Update Only.
Once complete, go to My Programs and find your variable.
Try setting up the notification again for your variable.

If you get the updating notification message for longer than 15 seconds, please try removing MobiLinc and reinstalling.
When bringing MobiLinc back up after the reinstall, please make sure to allow PUSH Notifications for MobiLinc.
