Mobilinc Network Error

Postby equisol » Wed Nov 13, 2013 7:34 pm

Hello Wes.
Just started running into a strange problem. I get a network error when trying to connect Mobilinc (on and iPad Air), then when I "tap to sync, I get the following error:
Network Error
There was a problem sending the request. Please verify settings in MySettings and try again. Error Code:0. Error Message: A connection failure occurred: SSL problem (Possible causes may include a bad/expired/self-signed certificate, clock set to wrong date).

I am using port 5008 for HTTPS. The clock on both the ISY and the iPad are at the same time.

Thanks in advance,

Pierre

Hi Pierre,

This is usually due to a configuration issue somewhere. Have you checked your port forward rule in the router to make sure it matches your ISY's IP address still? If the router is now pointing to a different device in your network, you could get an error message like this since MobiLinc is trying to talk ISY language to a different device that doesn't understand what MobiLinc is "saying".

I'd go through and validate all of your settings from the ISY to the router to MobiLinc's IP settings.

Wes,

I can access the admin console using my laptop using tis port. So I think that the port forwarding is fine. But I read another post that mentioned something about the crest being too large and mobilinc timing out. Could this be the issue ?

Hi Pierre,

Can you verify that the external port is pointing to the ISY's HTTPS port? When you use a web browser to test do you use HTTP or HTTPS in the browser address bar?

Wes,

My browser does not display if I am using http or https. But when I connect to the admin console, under configuration->Network settings, http is on port 80, and http sis on port 5008.
But I get a message telling me that my SSL certificate is the default cert. and that I should regenerate it. Would this be the problem?

Hi Pierre,

No, that's not a problem. All ISY's show that message actually. For the browser test just enter in https://your_ipaddress:5008 and then launch the Admin Console from this link.

Replace your_ipaddress with your ISY's IP.

Does this work or does the browser complain about the certificate?

Wes,

Just tried it from my iPad. Used https://myfixedip:5008.
Safari returned an error message that it could not establish a secure connection. So it looks like an issue with the certificate. When I enter the address in my MacBook Air, it appears to revert to http, but it may also use cached information. I can send you my fixed IP address via e-mail if you would like.

I suspect that your router is taking traffic on 5008 and sending it to the ISY's HTTP port (port 80).

Can you verify that the router is sending external traffic on 5008 to the ISY's HTTPS port (443)?

Wes;

well thank you for all your help. I changed the port on the ISY to 443 and redirected 5008 to 443 in my router, now I have access from outside. Thanks again for your great support.

I have a separate question. I am using several 'remotelinc 2 keypad' to control the lights. I entered the ID of one and it recognized the devices attached to it in the ISY, but when I entered another one it would not recognize any of the controlled devices from the remotelinc, any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Pierre,

Great! Glad you are back up and running! If you haven't, would you leave us a review on the app store? Good, positive reviews spur sales and allows us to support the community and release new features.

As for your ISY linking issue, I would recommend that you hop on the UDI support forums (http://forums.universal-devices.com) or contact UDI support for ISY related items.
