MobiLinc HomeSeer Plug-in validation error

Postby Rimlay » Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:34 pm

"data returned from the device is not frtom the Mobilinc HomeSeer Plug-in. Aborting connection"

THis is the error I get from my iPhone 4. I've loaded the app and plug-in on HomeSeer. I'm using the defualt password "admin" on the plug in configure screen and the iPhone. I'm also getting a random "sync" and then "Not Synced" prompt.

Can you pls advise on how to get this to work.

Thanks
Rimlay

Hi Rimlay,

This is an error message if the data source that HS MobiLinc is attempting to talk to returns an unknown data string. HS MobiLinc then aborts the connection since it doesn't know who it is talking to.

Just to confirm:
- You are running Windows XP, Vista, or 7 with HomeSeer.
- The MobiLinc plug-in for HomeSeer is installed and configured with admin/admin as the username and password.
- On your iPhone4 you've installed the free HS MobiLinc.
- In the HS MobiLinc settings you've configured your PCs IP address and default port (4113)
- In the HS MobiLinc settings you've set the Connect Method to Auto or HTTP.
- Tap Sync and verify you can sync with the MobiLinc plug-in.

If the above steps fail, we may need to look at your HomeSeer MobiLinc log file. Here are the steps to capture the log file:

1. Start HomeSeer.
2. Go to the Mobilinc Setup WebPage (Setup->Interfaces->Mobilinc->Config).
3. Change the "Logging Level" to Verbose.
4. Click Save to save the changes.
5. Restart HomeSeer.
6. Launch HS MobiLinc on your iOS device and attempt to sync with HomeSeer. This will cause the log file to be updated with the info we need.
7. Go to your HomeSeer directory. (Usually C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HSPRO or C:\Program Files\HomeSeer).
8. Find the file HSPI_Mobilinc.log and email me that file (wes@mobileintegratedsolutions.com).

Confirming...

I'm running WinXP
Mobi-linc plugin for Homeseer is installed, registered and config'd with default settings "admin" and port 4113
I've installed the free HS Mobilinc on the iPhone
Connect method is HTTP

I'm at work now but will capture the file when I get home.

Note:
I have TrendMicro internet security on this dedicated PC.
I have port forwarded the router 4113 to 192.XXX.XX
Do you need to configure firewalls to allow access to port 4113?

Hi Rob,

I'm just posting the solution here to close out this thread incase someone else has the same issue.

It turns out that in MobiLinc, the HTTP port was set incorrectly. Once the port matched the MobiLinc plug-in settings (4113) MobiLinc was able to establish a connection and sync with HomeSeer.

Sorry I had to reply to this but couldn't figure out how to start a new topic.

I've been using this app successfully since we figure out the problem back in February. However HS mobilinc is crashing when I try to customized any settings. This issue has just occurred recently. I've deleted and reinstalled to no avail

For example, changing the colors in the settings and changing HTTP to HTTPS is crashing the app. Any suggestions?

I'm getting the same issue on my iPad

thanks

Hi Rob,

Are you using iOS5? We are releasing an update to HS MobiLinc this week to address iOS5 issues.

Wes,

I'm wondering if you can help? Your app is running fine and I love the new version. However, When I sign in HS2 webserver I'm getting some kind of socket error which prohibts access until I reboot. I contacted Homeseer web support and this was their response.

"Greg Hughes has responded to your HomeSeer help desk request:
Call ID: 23244 Subject: HS2 - HS2 Continuing error

I would ask the plugin author if he uses System.Net.Sockets.UdpClient in this plugin as this is the source of the error

Do you have any insight?

Thanks

Rob

Hi Rob,

Yes, the plug-in does use System.Net.Sockets.UdpClient.

What was the question or error? Also, I'm assuming this was all working prior. Has anything changed in your setup recently?
