Does CamViewer work with NVRs?

Postby brianp6621 » Mon Aug 03, 2015 11:28 am

I just got a Zmodo 8 channel NVR POE IP system. Can mobilinc connect to these cameras since they are fed through/controlled by the NVR? They do each have an IP address obviously can they be directly connected to?

Hi brianp6621,

Yes, MobiLinc works with NVRs. What's the exact RTSP path for each camera? I can either confirm support or get it added if you can research the RTSP path for each camera. This is usually listed in the manual for the camera or the NVR.

I don't really know but I think it might be.

rtsp://IPADDRESS:10554//udp/av0_1

I'll try once I'm home.

That should line up with the MobiLinc Zmodo RTSP Profile 8 and 9:

Profile 8 is /av0_0
Profile 9 is /av0_1

OK, it seems to work but is VERY slow to bring up the feed. LIke over a minute. And this is on my internal network. Is there something I can try?

Ok it works, but as I said it takes a while to load, maybe 10-15 seconds now, but it is not a live feed, it loads 1 frame and that's it.

Can you give me any pointers on exactly how to enter the info into Mobilinc?

I have the IP address and the rtsp url format from above.

Do I enter the camera username and password? What do I use for local port?

Hi Brianp6621,

In order to best help to debug what's happening, I'll need to connect to one of your camera's from the lab.

Can you send me your external IP, web port, RTSP port, username/password, and the camera manufacturer to: support@mobilinc.com? I'll connect from the lab to confirm settings or attempt to update support for your camera in MobiLinc.

I am trying to do the same with my Zmodo camera system but Zmodo support said I cannot get the rstp address. Was this thread ever resolved and if so how? Thank you.

Hi Johnfalco,

I don't recall what the outcome was from this topic of over 3 years ago. What I can say is usually when there's a big delay in receiving RTSP feeds it's because the manufacturer or that firmware in the camera doesn't implement the full RTSP spec. As a result, there can be delays in getting video from the camera.

Now in the 3 years since, I'm sure ZModo cameras have changed the firmware and MobiLinc certainly has upgraded/using the latest streaming techniques.

Its odd ZModo won't give you the RTSP address. That probably tells us that either the camera doesn't support RTSP or their implementation isn't compatible with the actual RTSP spec...but until we tried it to know for sure, I couldn't say one way or the other.
