MobiLinc Connect versus port forward

Postby GQuack » Fri May 12, 2017 10:37 am

Greetings, I am a new MobiLinc user. I already have my router set up to port forward and an account to manage the external IP address for access to the ISY outside of our home network which has been working great for some time. I just received an email about expiring MobiLinc Connect subscription and I don't know if an expiring subscription is a problem or not.

First question: What MobiLinc services will I be losing if the subscription expires given I can already access externally?

Second question: Is there additional configuration required within the MobiLinc app itself in order to continue access from outside the home network if the subscription expires?

Regards

Hi GQuack,

MobiLinc Connect offers these additional features over the direct IP approach:

- Dead easy anywhere access for MobiLinc apps and access via the Admin Console
- Full Amazon Alexa integration and Google Home/Assistant support
- IFTTT Maker support
- Rich Push notification support for iOS devices
- Today View widget support for iOS devices

If you've already reconfigured MobiLinc for a direct IP there's no additional changes you'd need to make. Just be aware that without an active MobiLinc Connect subscription the above features like Alexa, IFTTT, Push, etc will stop working.
